WHAT WE CHECK

The data beside the image.

The local parser reads EXIF GPS, common device and author tags, plus XMP and IPTC location fields in supported still JPEG and PNG files. A displayed timestamp stays as recorded; no time zone is inferred.

Maker notes, comments, thumbnails, ICC profiles, proprietary formats and every possible metadata field are outside this focused inspection. Damaged or unreadable files produce an incomplete result.

WHAT YOU STILL NEED TO CHECK

The image itself.

Street signs, house numbers, faces, reflections and recognizable landmarks can reveal a location without any GPS metadata. The filename and information added by the site you share on can also disclose details.

This tool does not recognize visual content, look up an address or certify anonymity. The new raster copy is checked again for the location fields this tool reads.
